  • Government Solutions, serving government customers globally, including capabilities that cover the full lifecycle of defence, space, aviation and other government programs and missions from research and development, through systems engineering, test and evaluation, program management, to operations, maintenance, and field logistics.

The KBR UK Statutory Reporting team is looking for a Statutory Accounting Specialist.

Reporting into the Director - UK & Europe Statutory Compliance, based in Leatherhead, the individual will interact directly with the wider Statutory Accounting function, based in Leatherhead and Chennai.

The post holder will be responsible for supporting the Group's UK Statutory Accounting process as well as KBR's periodic US GAAP consolidated reporting cycles.

In addition, the individual will be asked to perform technical research/analysis and take an active role in the improvement of financial reporting systems and processes.

The role offers exposure to KBR's global finance teams.

The position is based in KBR's Leatherhead Campus but with flexible working patterns as required.


Responsibilities:


  • Calculate and prepare journal entries for booking into KBR's US GAAP General Ledger systems.
  • Identify and prepare journals to reflect any statutory adjustments required to complete KBR's UK GAAP entity level accounts.
  • Own the preparation of Trial Balances and draft financial statements for a selection of KBR's UK Legal Entities.
  • Collate responses to internal and external audit information requests.
  • Engage with peers in management/project accounting roles to source, understand data.
  • Explain and support management in their review and approval of financial statements, inclusive of key transactions and statutory adjustments.
  • Review and document financial reporting processes.
  • Develop into the European regional specialist in the financial reporting software packages KBR uses to meet its requirements (e.g. Workiva);
  • Work with and support accounting teams elsewhere in the business to meet their UK audit requirements.
  • Interacting with internal colleagues in tax, legal and other functions on a regular basis.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement, not limited to risk identification and mitigation, processes and our use of technology.
  • Monitor technical developments including their impact on KBR.
  • Participate in the design and implementation of training and development of the team.

Skills / Experience:


Essential

  • A relevant number of years' experience working in financial reporting required.
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP accounting concepts and principles.
  • Highly adept at interrogating General Ledger/ERP systems.
  • Well organised and able to manage own time effectively.
  • Inquisitive and analytical approach.
  • Ability to work independently in a fastpaced global environment.

Desirable

  • US GAAP financial reporting experience.
  • Experience in performing/managing the performance of key financial controls, reconciliations.
  • Experience in the review and documentation of key accounting processes and controls.

Qualifications:

ACA qualified or equivalent.
