Job description

This role will focus on Natural England's contribution to the Defra funded Data Mobilisation and integration project theme.

You will work proactively with the Data Mobilisation team and with internal and some external stakeholders to understand their data needs and data holdings.

The aim is to overcome barriers to data sharing to improve access to and effective use of evidence and assist NCEA projects to produce outputs under the Open Government Licence (OGL).

The role involves engaging with teams across Natural England, Defra Group, and biological recording infrastructure partners and data providers.

Applicants should have a working knowledge of the biological recording landscape and infrastructure that operates across England, and the stakeholders and their respective roles, including the national recording and monitoring schemes and societies.

The NCEA is committed to producing products that can be accessed under the Open Government Licence (OGL) wherever possible.

Applicants should have a working knowledge of data licensing, Intellectual Property (IP), for a wide variety of data as well as a working knowledge of GIS platforms and data capture mechanisms.

The role will require the applicant to demonstrate a strong ability to establish, build and manage collaborative internal and external partnerships, working to common goals and managing conflicting objectives.

Applicants will need to demonstrate broader thought leadership; with the ability to see the bigger picture and to contribute outside their specialism.
