Our Laboratories are based at the Biosphere in central Newcastle upon Tyne, a characterful city in Northumberland which is one of the most beautiful counties in the UK.
It will be necessary for you to be able to commute or relocate for this role as it is largely laboratory-based, however we offer flexible working hours and working from home can be accommodated for desk-based days.

Key Purpose of role:
Proposing, executing, and driving technology development according to company strategy
What you will be responsible for:
Working closely with our team of scientists and academic collaborators across core R&D and commercial projects to elevate the technical capabilities of our platform and products by:
- Evaluating and improving existing designs in lab/_in-silico_
- Innovation of new DNA nanotechnologies and creation of patentable IP
- Researching and solving key design needs
- Executing designs in the laboratory, troubleshooting
- Drawing meaningful conclusions from experimental studies to inform design iterations
- Reporting and sharing design principles
- Collaborating with data pipeline developer to integrate processes and utilise experimental data in models
- Clear and effective presentation of results and findings to internal teams and customers through verbal or written formats
- Presenting at conferences
What you will need:
- Masters/PhD in DNA Nanotechnology/DNA computing (or in backgrounds mentioned above) and proven record of scientific achievement
- Real interest in innovation
- Understands realities of earlystage ventures and can manage uncertainty
- Collaborative and open in communication style, persuasive and balanced
- Enthusiastic and output driven
- Excellence in data analysis
It would be great if you have:
- Experience in using modelling software (eg. Visual DSD, NUPACK, OxDNA)
- Handson experience with DNA oligos
- Basic programming skills
- Interest in diagnostics and human health
- Research ability demonstrated by journal and conference publications and/or preprints
- Able to work autonomously with an interest in collaborative work and sharing knowledge
