Description

Provide competent professional advice across core areas of Health & Safety and security retaining an up to date knowledge of statutory and mandatory legislation, national guidance and policy.

Assist the Trust in the undertaking of measures needed to take to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed upon it.

Lead on environmental health issues as directed.

Actively work with the Trade Unions and their nominated Safety Representatives ensuring effective two-way communication and consultation, and involvement in joint H&S inspections and audits were appropriate.

Work with the emergency preparedness, resilience and response and business continuity function.

Ensure risk identification and their proactive management, contribute to policy/plan development and the investigation of incidents and the implementation of relevant lessons learned.

Obtain/extract, collate, analyse and interpret data/information (quantitative and qualitative) from a range of sources that may be conflicting/incomplete to determine compliance, risk levels, themes/trends and remedial actions.

Prepare and present routine and adhoc high level, concise reports, briefing papers, action plans etc.

for Committees/meeting entities and specific audiences detailing compliance and risk. Communicate key technical H&S/Security messages to general staff, professional groups and targeted audiences in a manner they will understand. Respond in a timely manner to Freedom of Information requests as appropriate.

Development, implementation and maintenance of risk driven audit programme with clear SMART focused action plans, undertaking investigations and the provision of reports to give assurance to the Trust.

Work with Trust Legal team to analyse and investigate claims as appropriate. Identify and develop training to ensure relevant developmental events and training exercises are delivered and training needs met. Liaise with outside agencies as required regarding Health & Safety/Security.
