With a mission to protect and safeguard local communities from terrorism and serious and organised crime, South East Regional Organised Crime Unit (SEROCU) and Counter Terrorism Policing (CTPSE) are regional police units responsible for delivering specialist and niche capabilities to Thames Valley Police, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, Surrey Police and Sussex Police.

We are recruiting for Project Support Officers to join our growing team.

We are seeking highly motivated and organised individuals to join our team.

The project support role will assist project managers in our Business Change Programme teams, delivering change and improvements in capability in the region.


This role is part of a regional and local network and, therefore, will be asked to demonstrate flexibility regarding working locations with the occasional requirement to visit other offices in the south east region.

Consequently, you will require a full UK driving licence; any expenses for business travel will be reimbursed.

We support hybrid working, so there will be the opportunity to work from home for some of the working week as workloads dictate.


Responsibilities

  • Support projects using appropriate recognised techniques, for the gathering, recording and analysis of data for use in problem solving, in order to provide effective delivery of project objectives and recommendations to improve endtoend systems in the regional units.
  • Coordinate and manage the collation of project information and data from departments in CTPSE and/or SEROCU. Manage data and spreadsheets in order to provide updates for returns as required.
  • Assist Programme and Project Managers in the production and maintenance of required project management documents throughout the lifecycle of the agreed projects to ensure projects are coordinated and managed effectively within the requirements of the project framework.
  • Support the management of project risks and issues, including the identification of potential issues, risks and tolerances and the development of contingency plans as required. Ensure that risks and issues are escalated as appropriate in order to secure the successful delivery of the projects.
  • Organise project meetings as directed by Programme and Project Managers, liaise with local implementation teams and other stakeholders, arrange meeting rooms and distribute project documentation. At the meetings, record actions and minutes as required. If required, reschedule meetings at short notice, balancing conflicting demands and priorities and provide fast time assistance to deal with business need.

The post holder will play a critical role within a small team;
- providing appropriate project related reports on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- assist with the management of strategic projects ensuring deadlines can be met.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining accurate project related data for use at management level.

No direct budget management however, a contributory role in determining best value and efficiencies arising from the project management processes.

The role holder will be required to travel for work purposes from time to time to attend relevant meetings.

Prioritising and time management. Ensuring deadlines are met - planned ahead 1 month to 12 months in advance.

No direct reports however, close working relationships with Programme Managers, Project Managers and other stakeholders engaged in delivery of Projects (e.g. SRO, Heads of Dept, Heads of Security and Business Services).


Required knowledge/skills
Essential

  • Proven recent administrative experience with knowledge of a range of project management techniques gained whilst working in a structured project management environment.
  • Good standard of education including excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Proven excellent interpersonal/communication skills developed in a demanding office environment demonstrating discretion, tact and diplomacy. The ability to influence and work with multiple stakeholders.
  • IT literate with especially in MS office software including Visio, Excel Spreadsheets, PowerPoint, MS Project and Databases.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, and as part of a team, and prioritise with excellent time management skills.
  • Proven ability to collate information and produce clear and concise reports.
  • Hold or willingness to work towards gaining a Prince2 Project management qualification.

Additional comments

Must have capability to travel on occasion, to different locations across the Force and Region and undertake assignments in a timely manner.
