This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic, experienced inspector to head up our inspection function.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director the incumbent will be responsible for in-process, first-off and final inspection activities within a small privately owned engineering Company.

This is a critically important role which demands a high level of conscientiousness, attention to detail and self-motivation. A strong belief in product integrity and customer service is crucial. As an ISO9001 certified organisation our varied customer base require the highest possible standards. The role will also encompass management of the company calibration system and customer owned gauges. The individual will be required to work closely with our small team and build excellent, supportive relationships. There will also be the need to liaise with customers on occasions.

  • Inspection/acceptance of incoming raw material/customer supplied parts
  • Inspection of goods being sent to or returned from Sub-Contract Suppliers.
  • Inspection of machined items, to include first off, patrol/inprocess and final inspection.
  • Completion of FAIR documentation where required.
  • Maintenance of accurate inspection records and related documentation.
  • Management of the Calibration System.
  • Management of customer loaned gauges.
  • Dealing with customer complaints/rejects.
  • Implement internal nonconformity corrective action
  • Contribute to process continuous improvement
  • Undertake special projects as required.
  • Support the Quality Consultant relating to ISO9001 compliance

Competencies:


  • Able to use a variety of measuring equipment including micrometers, verniers, Shadowgraph and other gauges.
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and understand limits and tolerances.
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques.
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) knowledge.
  • Familiar with BS6001 sampling techniques.
  • Familiar with ISO9001 or AS9001 Quality Management Systems
  • Good level of education.
  • Good level of Computer competency (Microsoft Office
  • Word, Excel, etc).
  • C&G Inspection qualification or minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • The ability to work well with others and gain trust
  • The ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Flexibility and openness to change
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Thorough attention to detail

Benefits/Working Hours

  • Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 4.30pm, Friday 7.30am to 1.30pm
