Description

What will you do?

  • Assist and contribute to the analysis of regional policy issues, including assembling information, preparing written reports, and suggesting policy responses.
  • Undertake research, data collection or survey work within the region to identify where the gaps in ESOL provision are located.
  • Coordinate ESOL delivery through procurement of identified providers for both online and face to courses
  • Coordinate train the trainer ESOL delivery through procurement of identified providers for both online and face to courses
  • Monitor progress of individuals ESOL training
  • Liaise with policy officers from local authorities, government departments, the national LGA and regional and national agencies to monitor the levels of provision across the region
  • Support the South West Regional ESOL forum
  • Work with schools, colleges and ESOL providers to keep up to date with any issues/challenges/new training available and to maintain the regional ESOL provider directory

What skills do you need?


You will possess strong communication skills, be able to network with key customers including senior managers and work as an effective team member.

You will have a teaching qualification and experience of working with English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a small team, so flexibility is important.

We support local authorities in information sharing and lobbying on behalf of the South West to try and get a better deal for the region, we also support learning and development activity and provide specialist HR advice.

SW Councils team are currently working a mixture of office working and working from home.

The role is office based (with occasional travel) but there will also be the opportunity to work from home at times should an individual wish to do so and this fits with business needs (appropriate equipment will be provided).
