The have an opportunity for a Test Substance Controller to join their team in Brixham.


What You'll Do:


  • Be responsible for the research sample lifecycle from sample dispatch through to the disposal or return of the material to clients.
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOP's), maintaining accurate and up to date records.
  • Conduct the identification, data capture, and resolution of discrepancies during sample receipt and highlight to any responsible client and study personnel.
  • Conduct all work in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, specifically Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
  • Coordinate with operational teams with dispensing and management of test items.
  • Manage and plan individual workload in collaboration with the team so that deadlines are met.
  • Liase and communicate with clients and colleagues, supporting the timely arrival of test substances on site and working to deliver projects where priorities can change.
  • Be trained as a deputy radiation protection supervisor in the handling, administration and disposal of radiochemical test substances (14C and 3H).
  • Be trained as a Biological Safety Officer in the handling, administration and disposal of imported soils.
  • Maintain chemical inventories and interact with suppliers as required.
  • Commit to ongoing training opportunities.

Who You'll Be:

  • Experience of chemistry practical work. e.g., use of balances, pipettes, standard preparation, standard laboratory equipment.
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, liaising with both internal and external partners.
  • Experience with interpreting safety data sheet (SDS information), OR laboratory sample receipt OR general administration experience would be beneficial.
  • The ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
  • Energetic and proactive with a close attention to detail.
  • Strong interest in science and environmental issues and willingness to continuously learn.
  • Knowledge or experience of working to GLP (or other quality management system).
  • Strong computer, scientific, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a successful cross functional team.
  • Ability to learn new skills, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, keep accurate records, follow instructions, and comply with company policies.
