Our Ecologists work on large multi-million pound high profile infrastructure schemes to ensure we protect wildlife and create an environment allowing it to thrive alongside our developments for many years to come.


Our Ecology team work alongside our award-winning design, maintenance and construction teams who transform our roads, railways and public buildings and deliver the critical support services the country relies on every day.

You will support this by gaining experience in practical ecology out in the field using and developing your survey and identification skills.

The salary is £ - Depending on experience


The standard hours of work are
40.0 hours

You will be responsible for:


  • Delivery of habitat and protected species survey requirements
  • Drafting Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Baseline Assessments and protected species licences.
  • Consulting with statutory bodies about permitting and licencing.
  • Undertaking all ECoW duties during construction and deliver & monitor protected species mitigation requirements where appropriate.

We want to hear from you if you have:

  • A degree in Ecology, Zoology, Botany, Biology, Environmental Science (with a strong ecology focus) or similar/equivalent
  • Ability to demonstrate previous experience in a professional ecological consultancy role
  • Working towards associate or full membership of a Professional Body and Chartership
  • Protected species licence holder or working towards same would be beneficial
  • Experience and ability to lead on habitat and protected species surveys
  • Experience in drafting ecological reports; including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Baseline Appraisals and Method Statements
  • Thorough understanding of UK wildlife legislation
  • Knowledge of invasive species survey and management
  • Health and Safety awareness, especially safe working practices and risk assessment related to ecology fieldwork
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders and design team colleagues
  • Experience in planning and resourcing ecological surveys
A full UK driving licence
