    Job Description:

    As a Dietetic Expert Clinician for Gender Alignment services, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team. Your responsibilities will include:

    • To be the Dietetic expert clinician for Gender Alignment services.
    • To take an active role within the Gender Alignment services multidisciplinary team and contribute dietetically towards the Gender Alignment services.
    • To contribute to regular managerial and clinical problem-solving and supervision of band 7 clinicians within dedicated teams.
    • To work alongside the Inpatient Dietetic Clinical Leads to initiate and manage clinical service development initiatives, implementing and sustaining change where necessary.
    • To utilise expert clinical reasoning and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions in your dedicated clinical area and to provide specialist support and advice to other Dietetic staff whilst maintaining a caseload as an autonomous practitioner which includes highly complex patients.
    • To utilise evidence based principles and current best practice guidelines.
    • To participate in CPD and other developmental activities.
    • To educate the multi-disciplinary team, Dietitians in the Trust and Dietitians nationally (as appropriate) on elements of Dietetics in your designated clinical area, and raise the profile of the Dietetic service in your designated clinical area within the service and Trust.
    • To ensure that the Dietetic service in the designated clinical area is responsive to user requirements within the available resources and in accordance with directorate and departmental plans.


    Person Specification:

    We are seeking an individual with the following essential criteria:

    • Significant post-registration experience as a Band 7/8a in relevant clinical areas that are required for this role.
    • Experience of team management in an NHS healthcare setting at band 7 / 8 level.
    • Evidence of supervision of more junior staff.
    • Leadership and participation of teaching/in-service programmes.
    • Demonstrable experience of audit in evaluating and developing a service.
    • Teaching experience to a broad range of clinicians and students.
    • Evidence of close working with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
    • Highly specialist knowledge of a range of conditions and treatments relevant to clinical area.


    Desirable criteria include:

    • Previous lecturing on external courses.
    • Liaising with external stakeholders and influencing decision making of senior leaders.
