Located on the stunning Jurassic Coast and with the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty close by, Exmouth Community College is one of the largest secondary schools in the country with over 2300 students.

The College is seeking a Specialist Learning Mentor to support a deaf student who will join the College in Year 7 in September 2023. The post is linked to a student with an Education, Health and Care Plan and is offered on a fixed term basis for the duration of the student's attendance at the College.

The post holder will need to:

  • Have previous experience of supporting students at school.
  • Be able to connect with, enthuse and engage with this.
  • Be actively involved in planning and implementing support programmes for deaf students with guidance from the Advisory Teacher of the Deaf.
  • Be able to support other staff in the school working with deaf and hearing impaired students.


There is a possibility of the grading of the post being re-evaluated if the postholder holds or successfully obtains a BSL 3 qualification.
