Buyer to join a large global stockholder at one of their UK sites based in
Bredbury, Stockport.

The company has over thirty years of experience producing specialist solutions for the energy sector and has a workforce of more than 6,000 workers worldwide.

What will you be doing as a Buyer?

  • Sourcing components and RAW materials for subcontract manufacturing business
  • Compiling technical RFQs for Tier 2 suppliers and OEM part manufacturers by extracting drawings and part reports from engineering drawings and database information
  • Making judgements on purchase versus manufacture in conjunction with the manufacturing team by interrogating complex bills of material
  • Ensuring that there is a continuous supply of materials and services to enable all delivery objectives to be achieved in the most costeffective and timely manner
  • Allocating appropriate part numbers and raise POs from requisitions while considering savings prior to ordering via the ERP system
  • Identifying and achieving lowest costs without impeding quality and maintain the 'Standard Cost' of materials on the appropriate database within the ERP system
  • Monitoring suppliers' performance to ensure that the approved suppliers achieve the goals set during the management review and produce a monthly report highlighting performance
  • Continually seek new suppliers to satisfy increasing demand
  • Maintaining and improving company procedures, standards of quality, and workmanship
  • Liaising with Suppliers, Production Control, and Quality Department for engineering drawing/specification changes

What do you need?

  • A background in mechanical engineering
  • Previous experience in purchasing raw materials, engineering products and services
  • The ability to read engineering drawings
  • The ability to interpret technical specifications
  • A strong level of attention to detail
