Ruskin Mill College is set in 140 acres with a farm, fish farm, two converted mill buildings, woodlands, smoker nad workshops.

Basedin Nailsworth the College provides for young people aged 16 to 25 years old.


Tutor, Functional Skills

Based at Ruskin Mill College, Nailsworth
40 hours per week, 52 weeks per year


The post holder will be working with a team of experienced functional skills tutors to coordinate the work of the team.

You will be required to deliver high quality functional skills tuition, which meets the needs of

the individual students in line with external requirements and the Trust Assessment Recording Framework.


Applicants must have experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/ or learning disabilities and have experience of teaching / training.


To undertake this position successfully you will have a
Level 5 Subject Specialist qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy, Teaching qualification Cert Ed, PGCE, DTLLS or above, Experience of teaching functional skills English and Maths from Entry Level 1 to Level 2, Experience of assessing functional skills and Experience of supporting people with Dyslexia.


Main Duties

  • To assess, plan and deliver functional skills in literacy and numeracy to all students on an individual or group basis according to students learning needs and requirements.
  • To work as a part of the functional skills team to develop a high quality functional skills program within the college.
  • To be a part of ongoing assessment of students learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required minimising barriers to learning and achievement.
  • To deliver the education remit to students as defined by the Assessment Recording Framework.
