Job Description:

Job Purpose


The Planner will be responsible for assisting with co-ordination and execution of supply planning activities for both the Edinburgh and Annan sites under supervision of the S&OP Manager.

The role will be responsible for maintaining the master production schedule, working closely with production supervisors to determine an optimised schedule to support tactical business objectives.


The role will be critical to ensure effective communication across functions to identify and communicate impact, focusing on risk to customer demand and weekly/monthly adherence to schedule.

The role will also support monthly reporting and data analysis for production and commercial as required.

Principal accountabilities

  • Ensure optimum production plans are in place to meet business requirements. This includes creating and maintaining production schedules that support the business forecasts and agreed safety stocks
  • Attendance and input into regular (daily/weekly) crossfunctional meetings, providing updates and highlighting risks related to supply of sales orders, schedule adherence, batch documentation and data records
  • Works closely with purchasing/materials scheduler to support efficient raw material planning (inbound movement of goods) through timely communication of schedule changes
  • Works closely with quality to support efficient planning of material release to support the plan (internal movement of goods) through timely communication of schedule changes and requirement dates
  • Works closely with customer service/packing & dispatch to support efficient on time order dispatch (outbound movement of goods) through timely communication of product availability
  • Creation and maintenance of reports driving the Scotland S&OP and forecasting process
  • Collation and rationalisation of data for the Scotland S&OP process, supporting product management teams with analysis to drive decision making on demand/supply scenarios
  • Deputise for administration of key documentation required for production as determined by the Edinburgh manufacturing schedule (production schedules/batch numbers, batch sheets); Support Annan with release of production schedules
  • Support maintaining and accurate record of material input and output on ERP system for the Edinburgh site, following up and resolving anomalies with Ops team if required
  • Maintain master data on current ERP System, including allocation of new resource codes and creation/revision of Production Models for Edinburgh and Annan
  • Continuous improvement relating to key responsible areas, recommending areas for improvement to make processes more efficient
  • Support actions involved with new ERP system implementation as required
  • To carry out any other duties which are within the employee's skills and abilities whenever reasonably instructed
  • Strictly adhere to the business safety, quality and regulatory compliance culture

  • The role is based in Scotland, but supports the global business as required
  • Works autonomously within agreed work plans to provide clear, appropriate and timely information
  • Personal integrity and accountability for approach to work activities and relationships, a strong and positive representative for the Planning team

Qualifications:


Qualifications/ knowledge/experience

  • Intermediate/ advanced Excel skills are essential (use of common logical formulae, pivot tables, conditional formatting, etc)
  • Previous experience with supply chain/procurement/planning in the manufacturing sector would be beneficial
  • Degree qualified, preferably with a business/supply chain focus
  • Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Dynamics CRM; Microsoft Dynamics 365
