    Senior Health & Safety Advisor - HM Tower of London

    The Historic Royal Palaces, a charity that cares for six stunning royal palaces, is seeking an experienced Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join its team at the iconic Tower of London.

    This unique role offers the opportunity to work in one of the world's most fascinating historical sites, with a strong focus on operational management, incident management, and ensuring the safety and well-being of staff, visitors, and the site's rich heritage.

    About the Role:

    We are looking for a seasoned health and safety professional with a formal qualification in health and safety management. The ideal candidate will have experience in active safety management roles, preferably within visitor attractions or large public venues in the heritage and arts/culture sector.

    The successful applicant will be responsible for providing expert advice on all aspects of health and safety at the Tower, including risk assessments, monitoring, and reporting. They will also be part of the Duty Governor team, which requires managing incidents as part of the 'Silver' level of incident command and control.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide expert health and safety advice to colleagues and stakeholders on all aspects of health and safety at the Tower.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments and monitor compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
    • Develop and implement effective health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Collaborate with other teams, including facilities management, events, and conservation, to ensure seamless delivery of health and safety services.
    • Manage and coordinate incident responses, ensuring prompt and effective action to minimize risks and impacts.
    • Participate in the Duty Governor team, providing critical support during incidents and emergencies.
    • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including external partners, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.

    Requirements:

    • Formal qualification in health and safety management (e.g., NEBOSH Diploma, IOSH Certificate).
    • Experience in active safety management roles, preferably within visitor attractions or large public venues in the heritage and arts/culture sector.
    • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH, IIRSM).
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and report-writing skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
    • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances, prioritize tasks, and manage stress effectively.
