The role


This role is part of a global team primarily responsible for the negotiation and execution of master trading documentation for our client's client-facing Markets business.


A Prime Services and Prime Derivatives Services (PDS) Negotiator is responsible for drafting, negotiating and executing various master trading documentation in support of the our client's Prime Services, Exchange Traded Derivatives, OTC Clearing, Intermediation, Securities Financing Transaction and Securitised Products businesses.


The responsibilities

  • Negotiating and executing master trading agreements as well as ancillary documentation
  • Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory and documentation risk controls and adhering to associated guidelines and procedures
  • Preparing and delivering training and presentations to colleagues in legal and other areas of the Bank
  • Performing quality checks on negotiations conducted by other negotiators prior to execution and identifying processes to be improved around data capture and technology
  • Working closely with senior stakeholders to establish client trading relationships and to advise regarding risk controls, explaining complex legal issues in a commercial manner
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of projects and other longerterm objectives
  • Proactively seeking resolutions to blockages in any negotiation by collaborating with other colleagues or stakeholders and using extensive knowledge of the products
  • Effectively managing relationships with internal and external clients, to understand how we can support them in a more efficient manner

The requirements

  • Essential requirements:_
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years of financial services experience, in legal or as a negotiator
  • Comprehensive understanding of loan linked documentation.
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of the ISDA Master Agreement, the financial industry and Legal roles.
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Desired requirements:_
  • French, Italian, Spanish speaker
  • Qualified lawyer in Scotland, England & Wales or other jurisdiction
  • Understanding of current regulatory requirements affecting investment banks in the derivatives space and familiarity with regulatory project implementation.
