  • About our Team
  • Cell Press is looking for an Associate Scientific Editor. You will work closely with editors across our portfolio of biology and medical journals and directly with authors, as part of a dynamic team and fast paced environment.
  • About the Role
  • You will be supporting editors and authors optimize overall publishing success and work on crossjournal projects and initiatives for Cell Press.
  • Responsibilities
  • Overseeing the peer review and publication process of a rapidly growing open access journal
  • Working with the team of editors to build and develop content.
  • Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond
  • You will also have the opportunity to be a stakeholder in innovative Cell Press initiatives that shape the future of science communication.
  • Establishing relationships with diverse editorial teams
  • Assessing submitted research papers and reviewer feedback.
  • Guiding authors through various aspects of the publishing process
  • Supporting authors' publishing decisions related to transfer between journals.
  • Working collaboratively with academic board members and inhouse editors
  • Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond
  • This is a fulltime editorial position.
  • Requirements
  • Have a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline (biological Sciences)
  • A PhD or other relevant doctoral degree.
  • Broad scientific interests and a passion for helping scientists publish their results.
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize, focus, and achieve desired goals.
  • A dynamic, resultsoriented approach to goals and objectives.
  • Creativity, willingness to experiment, and desire to improve.
  • Researcherfocused and attentive with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interactive, team working skills as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Continuous quality control and monitoring of all aspects of daytoday publishing operations and actively address improvements where required.
  • A good understanding of digital communication, publishing trends and open access publishing.
