Job description:
As Technical Team Leader you will lead a team of remote working Vehicle Standards Assessors (VSAs) to deliver high quality, value for money testing services within a testing facility network.
Support the provision of testing services by undertaking quality control activities of DVSA staff and assessing the technical aspects of the testing facilities.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;_
- Leading and developing high performing teams of Vehicle Standards Assessors (VSA)s.
- Execute management responsibilities effectively and in line with DVSA policies and processes, planning and coordinating tasks and activities and taking responsibility for ensuring objectives are delivered.
- Role model Health and Safety culture.
- Contributing to the achievement of DVSA business plan through collaboration with colleagues and partners.
- Provide guidance to staff to support the delivery of objectives. Manage and engage with honesty and integrity, upholding the reputation of the
- Effective relationships management with local testing facilities, in collaboration with other members of the NGT Management Team Resolve day to day service issues escalated by VSAs, Testing Network Manager, Network Business Manager and the resourcing team.
- Keeping up to date with with developments in motor vehicle technology particularly HGV & PSV vehicles.
Person specification:
We are looking for individuals who have:
- Experience of handling and resolving customer complaints.
- Knowledge of Vehicle Testing; schemes and processes.
- Data analysis skills; able to interpret data and information to make sound decisions.
- Expert knowledge of technical components and their operation, in sufficient depth be able to test the technical knowledge of others: Vehicle structure, Vehicle braking systems,Suspension systems, Steering systems (including geometry), Running Gear/Power Train, Chassis, Tyres, Lighting/electrical.
Additional Information
You will be required to work within a wide geographical area, mainly the Central Belt of Scotland. This will require you to work flexibly when needed in line with the relevant operating modules and contracts. There will be frequent over night stays required when necessary on DVSA business.
Qualifications are essential to role, please be aware that an NVQ level 3 on its own will not be accepted as a qualification.

Licences:
- A current & Full UK driving licence to drive category B vehicles
Qualifications: - Must have vocational related qualification in Motor Vehicle Maintenance & Repair at level 3 or IMI ATA registration at diagnostic technician level or IRTEC registration at advanced technician level or Engtech registration.
- NB: An NVQ level 3 on its own will not be accepted as a qualification. This is only accepted as proof of experience.
