Social Hub Activity Assistant -18hrs a week - £11.76an hour

JOB PURPOSE:


As an activity assistant for Just Good Friends Club, you will be supporting vulnerable people with learning disabilities, helping them to take part in day club activities to live a fulfilled life.

Different people will need different support, and this is where you will have the opportunity to develop your understanding of each individual's need, and tailoring each club, outing or activity to each member's needs.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


The duties and responsibilities detailed below are not an exhaustive list and the post holder will be expected to carry out any other duties deemed appropriate to the post.


  • To provide social activities and outings for Adults with a Learning Disability.
  • Give Adults with a Learning Disability a better lifestyle and reduced isolation at an affordable cost.
  • Enable adults with learning disabilities to improve and learn new life skills.
  • To use mainstream facilities for outings wherever possible.
  • To continue good links with other agencies.
  • Support Adults with Learning Disabilities achieve their full potential.
  • Encourage Adults with Learning Disabilities to socialise and interact in activities.
  • Analyse an individual's needs and support their choices
  • Understand members communication needs and adapt your communication to each individual, e.g. sounds, tones, body language.
  • Promote a positive image of the Just Good Friends Club as a whole at all times
  • Monitor and maintain a safe working environment for self and others.
  • Manage enquiries from customers (external and/or internal), referring requests to the appropriate person in order to provide an efficient and effective service
  • Ensure effective communication with CCO,COO, Trustees and team members
  • Attend training relevant to your role
  • To work outside office hours when required
  • To understand all aspects of GDPR
  • To undertake any other duties as instructed by the CCO who has overall responsibility for the Just Good Friends Club
  • To be fully aware of duties, policies and procedures in order to safeguard both themselves and others.
  • Cover sickness, vacancies and annual leave of team members when necessary.

  • The ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise your workload
  • Good listening and communication skills
  • A caring attitude
  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to follow policy and procedures
  • The ability to work in a personcentred way, being able to demonstrate key skills such as empathy, empowering people and working effectively as part of a team

MANDATORY JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • DBS check to be completed
  • Full driving licence with business insurance

Job Types:
