Global Senior Security Specialist

Position Summary

The Senior Security Specialist works within the Global Security Team supporting the International Business.

The Senior Security Specialist will support the Associate Director, Global Security in the management of effective global security programs to mitigate risk, safeguard the organisation's employees, intellectual property, integrity, reputation and physical assets throughout the International Business.

This is a permanent role based in Paddington, London.

The role covers numerous countries outside of the US along with an array of duties.

Duties Include:

  • Supporting security programs by implementing appropriate components in the areas of physical security, including consistent and globally aligned security systems and operations.
  • Works with the Global Security department to contribute to changing directives to support security operations, security awareness, systems & technology, traveller security, and other programs as needed.
  • Supports the Global Supply Chain Security program.
  • Provides information and education as appropriate to other Vertex employees to increase the overall awareness of security issues.
  • Supports Global Security with travel security, event security, executive protection, and internal investigations in close collaboration with global leadership.
  • Supports the preparedness program to ensure business continuity and resilience of Vertex operations. This includes emergency response, incident management/communications, product security, and business/operations recovery.
  • Supports investigations of external threats against Vertex products and/or brand, monitoring online and physical marketplaces for suspicious activities and products, identifying and deploying stateoftheart security technologies, and executing a global assessment/audit program of internal and external entities.
  • Supports the GSOC (Global Security Operations Center) and GSOC team by increasing global awareness, analytical capabilities, incident recognition and communications.

Areas of Knowledge & Experience:

  • Security Risk Management
and Mitigation.

  • Demonstratable knowledge of Security systems
  • Access Control & CCTV, etc.


  • Security Auditing

  • Physical site and supply chain.
  • Security Project Management skills.
  • Proven experience in investigations and case building.
  • Extensive experience in working in corporate security, industrial security and/or other fields closely related to product security and asset security.

Desired Qualities:

  • Significant years security industry experience, within a pharmaceutical environment.
  • An organised individual with the ability to manage multiple tasks across multiple regions.
  • Demonstrate creative mental agility, critical thinking, inductive and deductive reasoning and to solve problems, make decisions, and implement effective solutions without input.
  • A strong desire for personal/professional continuous development.
  • A character that will absorb our company culture and get involved.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proven track record of delivering success within the security industry.
  • Demonstratable leadership skills.
  • Membership of Security organisations.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A recognised Security Industry qualification
  • CSMP, CPP, PSP, etc.
  • Degree level college qualification or demonstratable relevant continuous learning.
  • A recognised Audit training certification.
  • Any complimenting qualifications: Nebosh, First Aid, People Management, Quality, Project Management, Security Systems.

Travel required:
Up to 30% travel required internationally.
