Have you considered a career in talking therapies? Do you want to make a difference in helping people manage anxiety, stress and depression?

Train as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) with NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies (formally Time to Talk)

Training is provided in partnership with The University of Surrey, based in Guildford.

The course commences in late September 2023.The University delivers a hybrid approach to teaching, involving some face-to-face and some remote learning.

The usual teaching days for the course are Wednesdays and Thursdays with some additional training days and teaching blocks. The remaining days will be spent in clinical practice in your designated team base.

You will be part of a high-performing service which provides remote and face-to-face treatments for our patients including telephone, video and in-person appointments, with qualified staff being both home and office based.

We offer flexible working, provide an 8am-8pm service and once qualified working one evening per week is required.

You will receive excellent clinical supervision from a Senior PWP.

You will also have the opportunity to work with CBT Therapists, Counsellors and qualified PWPs, all of whom have a reputation for being friendly and supportive of trainees.

We have training posts available in a variety of locations across West Sussex. We also have positions available in our specialist leading long-term conditions team. You will need to be able and willing to travel to different sites as required in West Sussex.


Please note that you will be expected to pay for any travel you have to make to and from the University, although any travel between your work base and our locations in West Sussex will be covered by NHS West Sussex Talking Therapies expenses.

We know from experience that our trainees are always keen to stay within the service upon completion of their course, and in the first year post qualifying as a PWP, our newly qualified staff are fully supported through all areas of the work to continue building their skills as a PWP through our excellent preceptorship scheme.
