SP18 £21,740 (pro-rata)


Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Newcastle.


We offer a wide-ranging curriculum to our Further Education students, including Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Management, Countryside and the Environment, Engineering, Equine, Floristry, Motorsport, Outdoor Adventure Sport, Sports Development, Coaching and Fitness, Uniformed Public Services and Veterinary Nursing.


We also have a thriving university centre at York offering a range of courses from Foundation degrees to Masters level.


We are looking to recruit a full-time Progression & Support Tutor, this new bespoke role will require you to work within the curriculum and with a cohort of around 40 students at our Wakefield campus to deliver our tutorial framework group sessions (Progression and Development sessions) on topics such as Employability, Prevent and British Values, mental health and wellbeing among many others.

You will be responsible for supporting the students pastorally and monitoring their progress and attendance in one to one tutorial sessions.


In addition to this, the other half of your role will require you to be an active Learning Support Practitioner.

You will provide pro-active in-class support to students with learning difficulties and maintain high quality records of that support in line with identified needs and support strategies.

We would expect applicants to have an understanding and experience of some of the following Special Educational Needs - Autism, ADHD, dyslexia, social, emotional difficulties, speech, language and communication difficulties, dyspraxia and moderate to severe general learning difficulties.


Working closely with curriculum, Inclusive Learning, Student Services Team, Quality Team and Work Placement Teams, you will be responsible for ensuring each student has the life skills and knowledge they need to be employable, work ready and equipped with the skills to keep themselves safe when they leave our College.

You will be a team player but be able to adapt to working independently when necessary.
