Job Purpose:
Corporate Development forms a significant part of RWS's head office.

The team is responsible for setting strategy, direction and governance for the Group's internal and external communications, client experience, brand, marketing, digital experience and investor relations.

Corporate Development also leads on RWS's M&A programme and oversees group strategy development.

The function uses insight at a group level to help inform decision making, messaging and positioning strategies that positively influence how our people, clients, investors and other stakeholders think and feel about RWS.

The team seeks to position RWS as a unique thought leader in our field.


About The Role:

We are looking for an Interim Head of Internal Communications, to come into the business as maternity leave cover.

You will report directly to our Corporate Affairs Director and will play a critical role in shaping and delivering our group-wide internal communications strategy.

Your primary responsibility is to ensure our c. 7,500 colleagues across 33 countries are informed, engaged and aligned with our purpose, values and strategy.

You will act as a trusted advisor to our Executive Team and Senior Leadership Team as well as partner on a regular basis with different cross-functional teams to consult on communication plans and support with delivery.

Your expertise will be instrumental in fostering a culture of transparent, informative and insightful communications, enabling our colleagues to understand the progress the business is making and how they contribute to the growth and development of the company.

Developing strong internal networks, ensuring clarity and consistency across all communications, as well as the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and pioneering environment will be key to succeeding in the role.


Job Overview:

Key Responsibilities

Supporting Business Strategy

  • Refresh and continue to execute the internal communications strategy aligned with our strategy, purpose and values.
  • Host quarterly allcolleague calls to update colleagues on business performance and initiatives.

Partnering with Leadership

  • Host regular calls with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and c. 60 Site Leaders to cascade messaging and share key developments.
  • Act as a key advisor to SLT on internal communications matters, providing strategic counsel and insights.
  • Ensure our People Leaders have the tools and information to cascade business insights with confidence to their teams.

Stakeholder Management

  • Align with and influence our internal communications leads in the business units and functions, to support with consistency of messaging and enhanced collaboration.
  • Partner closely with the Group marketing team, in particular the Head of PR & Media Relations, to ensure that internal communications align with external messaging and campaigns.

Change Management

  • Work closely with our Business Transformation Office (BTO) to support effective change management communication strategies for transformation programmes ensuring colleagues are confident about the changes and can embrace them.

Colleague Engagement

  • Develop initiatives in response to our annual colleague survey that enhance engagement and support our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), wellbeing and recognition programmes.

Measuring Effectiveness

  • Use datadriven insights to measure the effectiveness of internal communications to constantly evolve our internal communications programmes.

Crisis Communications

  • Work with the business continuity team to support crisis communication protocols to ensure colleagues are wellinformed during difficult events.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a senior internal communications role, preferably within a global and multicultural company.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Strongly developed influencing skills and experience in advising senior leadership teams, including Executive members, to help shape and deliver internal communications strategies.
  • Experience in tailoring communication strategies to a wide range of employees.
  • Developed leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align internal communication goals to the organizational strategy and purpose.
  • Knowledge of latest trends and best practices in the field of internal communications.
  • Experience using digital communication platforms such as SharePoint (Intranet), Viva Engage and Teams.
