    Job title: Senior Data Governance, Privacy

    Description

    Senior Data Governance & Operations Lead

    We are seeking a skilled professional to lead our data governance and operations strategy.

    Responsibilities include leading cross-functional collaboration, promoting data as an asset, and driving policy. This role will also oversee the team providing end-to-end data privacy assurance and execution of ongoing data operations.

    The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data governance, risk management, and compliance with EU GDPR, PECR, and DPA 2018 regulations.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Lead the data governance agenda, including accountability framework and initiatives to enhance position and reduce risk
    • Line manage and support data governance, privacy assurance, and data operations teams
    • Oversee KPI reporting across the teams
    • Own and review policies
    • Oversee policy management, configuration, and operation of data governance and scanning tools

    Data Privacy Assurance:

    • Partner with cross-functional teams to embed data protection compliance and privacy risk management
    • Conduct comprehensive data protection risk, legitimate interest, and transfer impact assessments
    • Advise on data protection clauses and review assurance documentation

    Data Governance:

    • Maintain company-wide records of processing activities documenting data sharing and use
    • Provide SME support for remediation actions to address key risks and issues
    • Oversee completion of training across UK and I business and third parties
    • Embed responsible data use culture across the company

    Data Operations:

    • Manage Microsoft Purview and Ground Labs for data access, classification, compliance, retention, and loss prevention purposes
    • Produce and maintain business data glossary and data lineage
    • Manage One Trust software and relationship with One Trust
    • Support development of data use in conjunction with customer insight, marketing, and IT teams
    • Liaise on data incidents, supporting investigation, trend monitoring, and mitigation action plans

    Requirements:

    • 5+ years of proven experience in analysing, assessing, and advising on risk and impact from a UK and European perspective
    • Determining options for handling personal data in absence of previous regulatory interpretation or operational examples
    • Commercially aware specialist applying regulatory principles and frameworks to complex commercial and operational arrangements
    • Ability to assess legal, practical, and business risks independently and make sound judgments
    • Experience working with third-party stakeholders and preferred experience with One Trust
