The CRUK Beatson Institute is a cancer research institute, situated in Glasgow with approximately 250 researchers split across 30 research groups consisting of PIs, postdoctoral scientists, PhD students and scientific officers.

It is one of Europe's leading cancer research centres, supporting cutting-edge work into the molecular mechanisms of cancer development.

As well as core support from Cancer Research UK, the Institute also receives an additional third of its total income from external grants and industry collaborations.

It has an excellent reputation for fundamental cancer research, including world-class metabolism studies and renowned in vivo modelling of tumour growth and metastasis.

Role Profile
We currently have a vacancy for a Scientific Officer (Animal Technician) in the Biological Service Unit at the Institute.

You will assist the Unit Managers in the provision of a working animal unit, whilst complying with the standards set by the UK legislation, Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986 and EU Directive 2010 with regard to the correct environmental conditions, care, husbandry and welfare of the animals, and ensuring compliance with the 3Rs whilst adhering to all relevant safety regulations.

Other skills required include computer literacy, a high level of personal organisation and a flexible approach to working hours.


_ This role involves weekend and bank holiday work on a rota basis_.


You should be able to work both independently and in close collaboration with the scientists and technicians in the unit.
