The Company
Songa Ship Management Ltd. (SSM) is a global ship management company operating as part of the Norweigan Blystad Group. Founded as the Technical Management branch of Blystad Shipping (USA) Inc.

in Houston, Texas, in 1995 to manage vessels owned by Mr Arne, the operation moved to Westport, CT, in 2000.

In 2000 the company was renamed Blystad Shipmanagement Ltd. but became known as Songa Ship Management Ltd. in 2006 after the company moved to its new home in Paisley, Scotland, and currently employs 57 onshore staff. Songa Crew Management Ltd. was founded in 2016 and employees around 1250 offshore staff, occupying vessels that trade worldwide.

You will be working closely with highly experienced colleagues in related areas of expertise, who are keen to make sure you will succeed and feel valued - there will be very little in the way of red tape in this fast-paced company, where no two days are the same


Role & Responsibilities

Your duties will include:_

  • Working closely with the Superintendents to undertake an efficient purchasing function.
  • Prioritise and organise daily purchasing requirements.
  • Source, process and delivery of spare parts, stores, provisions, chart publication updates and service requisitions for all vessels.
  • Responsible for following purchasing procedures.
  • Ensure completed Port Activity is sent to vessels 48 hours prior to arriving at Port and received 48 hours after vessel is sailing.
  • Daily liaison with agents and suppliers worldwide.
  • Work closely with freight forwarder to ensure freight schedules are on track.
  • Ensure all paperwork for supplies is accurate.
  • Double check costs meet agreed quotes.
  • Ensure all budgets are adhered to.
  • Build effective relationships with all members of staff.
  • Always relay important messages in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Work with all relevant systems to provide an excellent service.
