Working with a well-known Peterborough based food manufacturing company, we are looking for a Payroll, Pension and Purchase Ledger Administrator.


Working at part of the Finance Team, you will be responsible for maintaining the payroll system ensuring accuracy of all payments, expense claims and petty cash request.

You will also be responsible for managing supplier invoicing and payments.

Working on site, they operate a 37-hour week with a 3pm finish on a Friday.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that all payment and employee expense requests are correctly authorised and processed in a timely manner.
  • Actively coordinate with third party payroll provider on a regular basis
  • Ensure all overtime documentation and salary changes are processed accurately into the payroll system.
  • Process payment requests by completing a cheque/bank transfer and obtaining correct authorisation.
  • Maintain a cashbook so that all sterling payments and receipts are recorded and reconcile the cashbook to the bank statements on a daily basis.
  • Maintain an employee ledger by posting staff advances and expenses and producing weekly employee expense statements.
  • Receive returned foreign currency from employees and maintain an analysis, in order to sell the currency when required.
  • Handle Purchase Ledger accounts and invoice queries
  • Dealing with problems and queries, accurately and professionally.
  • Processing P11Ds at the end of the tax year and deal with all queries relating to PD1
  • Supporting HR

Your skills:

  • A payroll qualification or experience in payroll
  • Basic bookkeeping skills and knowledge of UK/EEC VAT procedures
  • Computer literate with several years' experience in an accounting environment
  • The ability to liaise with people at all levels is essential.
