Permanent, Full Time Position

Location:
Worsley, Greater Manchester

Salary:
£34,196 to £40,231 depending on Skills & Experience

Key Accountabilities:

To undertake the following tasks in conjunction with other suitably qualified and experienced staff as appropriate.

  • Design of Mains Replacement and Diversion projects
  • Design work to be completed In line with Cadent Policies, Strategy and Regulatory Requirements.
  • Design work to include: Mains Replacement Programme (MRP), Diversionary work to support Cadent and Customer Generated Initiatives, Reinforcements to support MRP, Non-MRP and Customer related projects, Non-MRP work including Multiple Occupancy Buildings;Non-Standard Connections; Governors replacement and renewal programme
  • Proactively working with the Lands Services team to identify Easement and Lands Issues in line with Policies and Procedures, both Cadent and Legislative

Site Surveying

  • Undertaking of Site surveys for all Non-MRP related Designs to identify risks and conflicts with Policy, Engineering, lands and Customer requirements
  • Undertaking of Site Surveys for the Complex Mains Replacement Designs to identify risks and conflicts with Policy, Engineering, lands and to support the Rft CMO handover
  • Complete CDM Surveys to assure compliance to Principal Designer responsibilities/accountabilities
  • Undertaking of site visits to further develop self and team capabilities whilst considering Policy and Engineering requirements

Development of Cost Estimates

  • Establish expected cost to Customer and Cadent for Customer related projects
  • Establish expected costs for Non-MRP related Projects
  • Support Determination of cost for MRP projects

Management of Design Data

  • Management of data from various sources in various formats
  • Paper and Electronic. Competently manage the systems to identify relevant data and share as required to support Operational Teams and Programme Management. Generate Efficient designs though considereduse of available data

Liaison with Third Parties and Internal Stakeholders including Highway Agencies, Customers - Company and individual, Operational Teams and Management from CMO, Railways, Water Course Agencies, Other Utilities and Third Parties, Land Services, Operateand Maintain, Cadent Operations


Analysis of the Network:


  • Standby Duties*
  • GBNA analysis to Support MRP Design Work for the annual Workstack
  • Analysis to support Routine and Non-Routine Operations within the network
  • Support of Network Design team to provide analysis to all workstreams within the Network
  • Analysis to support Design Amendments
  • Analysis to enable Non-MRP projects
  • Emergency Analysis Support
  • In and Out of hours
  • Standby Duties to be undertaken during out of hours.

Providing Technical Advice and Support to Clients

  • Non-MRP related works with Customer and thirdparty providers to enable consideration of technical aspects of the Project and it's Efficient Design. MRP advice provided to Cadent's IPO; Contractor CMO and Cadent's Direct Labour Force.

Supervision of Engineering and Contract Staff

Development of Design Function

  • Form an integral part of the succession and development of the Design Function within Cadent. Proactive Selfdevelopment and supporting of Other Design Engineers to secure a competent experienced capability within the Network

What we ask of you

Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Degree in an appropriate Technical Discipline or
  • HND/HNC in Engineering with additional experience to embed the theoretical qualification or
  • Equivalent relevant experience and Membership of Professional Body

Experience

  • Postdegree/Qualification experience in the design of Gas Distribution Networks
  • Experience in developing, supporting and progressing capabilities of self and key Design operatives
  • Leading and active involvement in implementing innovations and new processes

Technical

  • Contract Management

  • Design Competences aligned to LP/MP and IP workstreams and attributed activities
