Worcestershire Association of Carers (WAC) is a fast-paced community organisation passionate about delivering innovative, effective, and relevant services in partnership with individuals, communities and stakeholders.


The Worcestershire Integrated Carers Hub provides Worcestershire Carers with information, advice, support, training and carer involvement opportunities through a single point of contact via the hub and reaching out across the county through a network of community spokes.

Carer Engagement and Involvement is a vibrant and growing part of the organisation.

We aim to give all Carers a voice through understanding what matters to them and enabling them to share their views and experiences in a variety of different ways and approaches to influence and shape decision making.


Purpose of Post


We offer opportunities for carers to get involved in a number of different ways including; carer representation, being involved in meetings, forums, boards to having a say in consultations.

We have a growing online presence for carers to use to have their say, social media, website, yammer groups for example.

This position will play a vital role in the provision of engagement opportunities within the organisation, and of the development and administration support to Carer Engagement and Involvement.


The project officer will be integral to coordinating engagement and involvement opportunities to informal or family carers enabling them to share their views, both within the organisation and with external partners.

They will have impeccable verbal and written communication skills, a strong ability to multitask and a friendly demeanour. They will understand the issues carers face and have a willingness to overcome some of the barriers to engagement.


Further details are below:

  • To support the Carer Engagement and Involvement Pathway and development of carer involvement opportunities through using and updating a variety of platforms and medias; including website, yammer and social media to ensure all carers are able to have their say in a way most accessible for them.
  • To promote carer voice and carer involvement opportunities which include carer representation, consultations, forums and online platforms.
  • To support the recruitment process for carer representatives and various other carer voice roles enabling a number of ways for carers to get involved in ad hoc projects and forums.
  • To support the facilitation of carer voice meetings, forums and groups, and other administrative tasks.
  • To liaise and share information with the carer representatives in Worcestershire.
  • To coordinate with external partners from health, social care, local authority, voluntary care sector and other partners to work collaboratively with carers to increase carer involvement opportunities and coordinate coproduced pieces of work.
  • To manage an agreed portfolio of projects and work streams in line with the Carer Voice Pathway and WAC strategic priorities
  • To complete administrative tasks relevant to the role, such as
  • Processing expense claims, following the remuneration guidelines.
  • Inputting of confidential data onto secure database, safe storage and destruction of data and running reports for use in formats as determined by funders and stakeholders.
  • Development work in partnership with carers and carer representatives of WAC to increase representative capacity.
  • Coordinating and updating an online calendar.
  • Website development and maintenance.
  • Coordination of and support as required at events.
  • Coordination of and support as required at regular informal social groups, such as coffee breaks for carers.
  • Meeting Coordination and administration minute taking and distribution of papers.
  • Support in the development of monthly Carer Voice Newsletters.
  • Participate in the ongoing development, monitoring and evaluation of the carer voice work.
  • To work with the Carer Voice Lead to continue to build upon the carer involvement opportunities in place and share new and innovative ideas to reach more carers and hear their views.
  • Contribute to the overall strategic aims of the Association.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively promote carer voice, fostering an ethos of empowerment, independence and resilience through carers being able to participate in a variety of ways to have their say and achieve better outcomes for carers across Worcestershire and neighbouring counties.
  • To enable carers to have their say using a variety of means and platforms, recognising barriers to participation and how to overcome them.
  • Develop and maintain excellent partnership working relationships with a wide range of statutory and voluntary sector organisations to ensure the delivery of a joined up and coherent provision for carers, particularly relating to car
