Medical Science Liaison (Specialised Respiratory, Severe Asthma)
We are recruiting in our severe asthma medical team at GSK in the Specialty Therapy Area.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high performing medical team at a critical time for our Specialised Respiratory Portfolio.

This is an opportunity to join the Medical Scientific Liaison team at GSK, within the Specialty Care Business Unit.

It's an exciting time to join a forward-thinking medical team, in which you will lead the scientific and medical expert engagement plan for our Specialised Respiratory Portfolio.

As the MSL, you will be responsible for scientific and medical engagement with the experts in this field, engaging in the latest science.

Through this position you will become an expert in the medicine and disease area with a fantastic opportunity to make a difference to patients.

All roles are 100% field-based and this specific territory will cover the North of England, however there is some flexibility in terms of location.


In this role you will

  • Identify and engage with external experts
  • Deliver the field medical and scientific engagement plan
  • Engage experts in the field of Severe Asthma and COPD;
  • Peertopeer, robust scientific dialogue and using opportunities to generate insights.
  • Delivering scientific presentations.
  • Connecting external experts with key internal stakeholders to foster collaboration with the researchers and the NHS.
  • Responding to medical information enquiries to ensure appropriate use of GSK medicines.
  • Engage in discussions on potential research collaborations and evidence generation requirements.
  • Attendance at scientific congress to gather insights and engage experts on the science.
  • Support the TA Director in the review of all medical grant and donation requests, FOC requests and congress sponsorship requests to ensure alignment with therapy area strategies.

Qualifications & Skills:


We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Higher degree in life sciences: MD, MBBS, MPharm, PharmD, PhD, MSc or equivalent AND/OR A significant amount of pharmaceutical industry experience in a role successfully engaging in scientific exchange with external experts.
  • Effective engagement and communication skills and ability to tailor information to different audiences appropriately.
  • Ability to communicate through multiple channels e.g. webinars.
  • Solid grounding in clinical, medical and pharmaceutical science with the ability to rapidly assimilate specific and detailed knowledge in these areas.
  • An understanding of clinical development, and statistical design and analysis.
  • Effective networking and collaboration skills to achieve business results.
  • Strong business mindset and ability to balance crossfunctional objectives.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:


If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus:

  • Experience in Respiratory disease either in the pharmaceutical industry or healthcare/research sector
  • Established network of relationships with Respiratory Clinicians
  • Prelicense MSL experience
  • Strong academic background having participated in, or led research projects and authored publications
