Description

You will need to be from a consultancy or healthcare/science client organisation with the ability to undertake a prominent role on small healthcare and science-related projects, with support from a Senior Cost Manager/ Director.

In addition to our opportunities to deliver small healthcare & science projects, you will also have the ability to work as part of an integrated team on a significant component of a large healthcare project, that will be led by a Director.


With our commitment to development, we would expect you to take the opportunity to learn and develop within the role and be a role model for our less experienced team members that may be required to assist you.


The role would cover the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development, through the design, procurement process, site delivery, commissioning, and defects periods.

You would also be expected to provide basic support work winning.

This role is for projects based in Oxfordshire, the Home Counties and London.

Job Duties


  • Assist in the delivery of cost management commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
  • To provide effective support to Assistant/Graduate Cost Managers.
  • Management of the delivery of cost management team outputs, in accordance with agreed timescales and quality standards.
  • Ensure that there has been a sign off of all cost information produced by cost management teams prior to the issue
  • Support the development of strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team
  • Responsible for the delivery of cost management commissions ensuring their successful delivery.
  • Be an effective interface with AECOM clients (New and Existing).
  • Support in the compiling of tender documents and undertaking appraisals and negotiations.
  • Support the compilation and management of construction contracts
  • Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities.
  • Supervise Graduate/Assistant/Apprentice Cost Managers.
  • To support 'winning' clients through the quality of your work outputs, effective communication, and demonstration of professional behaviours.
  • Be directed by the leadership within the cost management business and from within your project team
  • Ensure you complete all relevant training

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:


  • Professional Qualified - ideally Cost Management/Commercial Management/Construction/Engineering/Quantity Surveying Degree
  • Good understanding of the roles of different parties involved in construction projects and how these roles change over the life of the project.
  • Exposure to Healthcare and/or Science sector construction projects
  • Demonstrable experience setting up and compiling cost plans
  • Demonstrable experience supporting the Value Management process
  • Demonstrable experience supporting the construction procurement process
  • Demonstrable experience supporting the Cost Reporting and Valuation process
  • Demonstrable experience of construction site visits for the purposes of monitoring the progress of works
  • General Understanding of construction contracts
  • Knowledge of the NEC and/or JCT Suite of Contracts

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Chartered Status with the RICS, CIOB, ICE or other equivalent institution
  • Experience working within a consultancy
  • Experience working within a healthcare or science organisation
  • Knowledge and experience of the healthcare and science sector (including current issues and business drivers) and local construction market.
  • Knowledge and experience of the NHS Business Case Approval Process
  • Knowledge and experience procuring consultants and contractors
  • Knowledge and experience of working with stakeholders/clients
  • Knowledge and experience of working as part of complex, multi-disciplinary/multi-agency Project Teams
