Description

Houlton School is a brand new secondary free school that opened in September 2021; set within a combination of fully refurbished Grade II listed buildings as well as brand new, specialist teaching facilities, Acting is housed within our state-of-the-art Transmission Hall building's Drama studio.


You will join us as we welcome our third cohort of pupils, so will teach across Years 7-9 in the first instance.

Ultimately, we will have all seven year groups, including Sixth Form.

Houlton School has an exciting opportunity for a Subject Team Leader Performing Arts - Acting to join our successful school.

You will join a passionate team of teachers who are committed to delivering our curriculum in engaging and inspiring ways.

You will be an excellent teacher who has the ability to inspire, motivate, challenge and support their pupils to ensure that they make progress.

  • Overview of responsibilities_
  • To teach pupils according to their educational needs, including the setting and marking of work to be carried out by the pupil in school and elsewhere.
  • To develop, monitor and update schemes of learning and the curriculum overview for Acting.
  • To assess, record and report on the attendance, progress, development and attainment of pupils and to keep such records as are required by school and curriculum team policy.
  • To provide, or contribute to, oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual pupils and groups of pupils.
  • To ensure that Literacy and Numeracy is reflected in the teaching/learning experience of pupils.
  • To undertake a designated programme of teaching.
  • To ensure a highquality learning experience for pupils which meets internal and external quality standards.
  • To use a variety of delivery methods which will stimulate learning appropriate to pupil needs and demands of the syllabus.
  • To maintain discipline in accordance with the school's procedures, and to encourage good practice with regard to punctuality, behaviour, standards of work and homework.
  • To undertake assessment of pupils as requested by external examination bodies, curriculum team and school procedures.
  • To mark, grade and give written/verbal and diagnostic feedback as required in line with both the school's feedback policy and the policy of any curriculum team the post holder is working within.

We are looking to recruit a dynamic individual with a real passion and interest in engaging pupils in Drama/Acting at all levels.

You will need to have good communication skills, organisation and time management skills with an outstanding knowledge of Drama/Acting both across KS3, KS4 and ideally KS5 level.
