Location:
Stockton on Tees with possible travel to other BHC sites


Job Type:
Full time (37.5 hrs per week)


Schedule:
Day shifts, Monday to Friday


Salary:
£23,000


Working within the Operations teams, our Data and Information Officer would enable the effective use of data to inform the delivery of high quality, safe and responsive patient and family care and support.

The individual will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation and specialise in the use of systems such as iCare and Vantage.


The roll is ideally suited to those with an interest in data insight and interrogation, looking to develop themselves with a strong foundation in systems and reporting, and will be a great first step into the world of Data Analysis.


  • Data administration, ensuring the capture of accurate and appropriate information in both patient and organisation management systems, as well as appropriate management of user access to ensure key information is readily available to those who require it
  • Extraction and interpolation of data into both regular and adhoc reports, analysing and interrogating the data to providing greater insight into the organisation and its operations, and presenting this data to key stakeholders with clear visuals and commentary
  • Working within regulatory timescales and governance to ensure both internal and external reporting and auditing requirements are met
  • Developing daytoday management and provision of user support across all systems, ensuring that appropriate information sharing agreements and procedures are in place
  • Accurate collation and processing of data and information, feeding into forums including but not limited to: KPI dashboards, annual reports, Hospice UK benchmarking, commissioners' reports, and committee meetings or reviews
  • Investigating patterns and trends in data to provide projections or troubleshoot issues, problem solving to identify causes and communicating these findings clearly with stakeholders
  • Providing firstline support to staff and managers in relation to patient information systems through written and verbal means including but not limited to: onetoone coaching, training materials, documented SOPs, and the onboarding and upskilling of new staff
  • Ensuring Information Governance (IG) and Data Protection procedures are in place, documented and audited, and can support current and future business intelligence needs
  • Championing continuous improvement, identifying improvement opportunities, seeking buyin, following approval processes, and leading on the implementation of agreed changes
  • Managing and organising paperbased records into the archive system as per retention records and guidance.

Qualifications, knowledge and experience:


  • An affinity with IT systems and software programmes such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access, adapting quickly to the current and future needs of the organisation and best utilising the tools available
  • An ability to prioritise work appropriately and within deadlines whilst maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality
  • An excellent attention to detail, able to scrutinize and interpret numerical and written data to produce accurate information and reports
  • Strong skills in written, verbal and visual communication, translating data into meaningful insight and actionable guidance
  • Selfmotivation and quick learning, able to work just as well alone as in a team
  • An ability to identify issues and problemsolve in a pragmatic way, with analytical and judgemental capabilities to analyse complex data, often when working under pressure
  • Commitment to continuing professional development, to adapting and learning new skills, and willing to undertake training
  • A successful history of delivering training and coaching to individuals or groups, especially in the use of systems and data
  • Experience of producing training materials, standard operating procedures, and quick guides
  • Experience in completing audit reviews of datasets and systems
  • A knowledge of manipulating data via scripting language, such as Visual Basic or SQL, as well as the creation of Business Intelligence tooling
  • An understanding of the General Data Protection Act (GDPR) and how data must be classified and processed
