Green Spaces Officer

£24,100 to £25,524 per annum

37 hours per week

About the role


The Green Spaces Officer reports directly to the Green Spaces Manager, and involves a wide range of practical support across the spectrum of the Council's extensive portfolio of green spaces, allotment sites, cemeteries and play areas.


About you


The Green Spaces Officer will support the team in providing an effective and efficient service in respect of the management and development of open spaces.

Principal duties of the Green Spaces Officer will be:

  • To visit and inspect open spaces, allotments and sports facilities, record findings and organise, in consultation with line manager and operational team, any actions deemed required
  • To liaise with members of the public and stakeholders at Council owned/managed open spaces and facilities (including allotment reps and plot holders) in support of the work of the Green Spaces team and associated facilities operated
  • Assist with the preparation and tendering of new contracts applicable to the service area
  • Project manage minor improvements and developments in open spaces, allotments, and other land/facilities
  • To ensure that all activities under the postholders control are undertaken in such a way as to maintain proper Health and Safety standards and are in line with the Council's Health and Safety policies, including the preparation and review of risk assessments
  • To work with and lead activities with volunteers (individuals and groups) working in the Council's open spaces and associated facilities
