An exciting opportunity has been made available to join the Santander UK bank as a Service Operations Lead within the T&O Infrastructure and Operations organisation of Santander UK where you will provide leadership and coordination of staff and services within the IT Operations team.


This role will drive the analysis and subsequent development of strategies to successfully manage Service Engagement function (including 3rd Party management & Stakeholder management), Service Operations (Governance and Management Information Reports) and drive Continuous Service improvement initiatives for the banks IT services in UK.


The role holder will provide strong technical and operational leadership ensuring strategies/ roadmaps/ initiatives are optimal, aligned to Santander UK IT operational goals and target operating model, reduce service risks and ensure service stability and availability within acceptable thresholds.

Actively measure, monitor, manage and report key service metrics and KPI's.

  • Leading and managing the service engagement and governance framework across a matrix of internal/ external teams.
  • Enabling and champion a service delivery culture, promoting ongoing service improvements and taking appropriate measures.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the business.
  • Managing a team of service operations analysts.
  • Maintaining ongoing ownership of all incidents and facilitate the communication of incident updates to customers provided by the support teams.
  • Managing service quality management processes, ensuring regulatory and audit compliance and the development and maintenance of the related quality management processes.

What you'll bring.

  • Extensive IT technical knowledge & Proven track record of running operations in a complex environment.
  • Thorough understanding of typical software and hardware layers (e.g. servers, storage, hypervisors, networks, operating systems, databases and Web Application servers technology and corresponding Application layers)
  • Experience in banking / financial institution technology operations
  • Relationship building and management with both internal and external customers and partners.
  • Extensive experience of implementing and managing ITIL services
  • Understanding of operating in a regulatory environment

It would also be nice for you to have.

  • Major transformation and Continuous Improvement leadership
  • Experience of managing crossfunctional technical teams in a matrixed organisation,
  • Strong interpersonal skills persuades and influences others, using a range of approaches, to achieve deliverables.
  • Commercially effective with exposure to executing cost save initiatives.

What else you need to know.


This is a permanent role working on a hybrid basis between home and the Milton Keynes office - minimum time required in the office of 40% of the working week.
