The primary activity of the role is the overall operational leadership of the Engineering teams that are working on early engagement and product line or platform projects.

The role therefore demands constant attention to the progress of each project and to ensure that solutions are in place quickly when issues or risks are identified.


You will identify when significant decisions need to be made across the whole project portfolio to protect all other projects, potentially with impacts elsewhere.

As such, you will have the responsibility for the maintenance and reporting of the overall engineering capacity and demand forecast on a monthly basis.

Main Duties & Responsibilities;

Lead the engineering projects teams and support them to achieve the technical and programme objectives of the projects - on a right first time and on time delivery basis within the project budgets.


For Early Engagement & Pre-Design:
Ensures adherence to the project plans for engineering activities and leads the engineering teams to maintain schedule;
Manages the global link to R&T, the architects, airframers, and airlines, calling upon Systems Engineering and Technical Audit to drive positive outcomes;
Ensures the SSGB total Engineering capacity and demand forecast is maintained and reported on a monthly basis, starting with the Local Development Review process;

Clearly defines the roles and responsibilities for Engineering PMO (including Project Engineers) and ensures that all engineering project teams are working consistently.


You will work closely with the VP of Engineering, Heads of Departments, Project Chief Engineers, and Programmes to ensure ongoing management and control of the teams.

The balance of skilled resources across the projects must be managed constantly and will be your responsibility. The role requires ongoing and frequent communication with multiple stakeholders, including regular review with Executives and Senior Executives.


Job requirements:

The role demands a high level of experience and competence in engineering management and delivery of engineering projects.

As such the position holder is preferred to hold an Engineering degree and have a significant background in Engineering management within an Aerospace development environment.

The position holder will need to have knowledge and skills in:
R&T and Engineering Product Development

Technical Expertise to a signatory level in at least one Engineering discipline

Project Management,

Schedule development and management

Cost management

Human Resources management

Risk Management

Engineering processes

Aerospace product development

Cognisant of the current industry standards, including FAA, EASA & CAA regulations.

Strong leadership experience is necessary and required.
