Principal Engineer - Shock, Structures and Dynamics

Location:
Filton, Frimley, Weymouth, Portsmouth - Hybrid

Salary:
up to £70k

The Shock and Dynamics team:

Atlas Recruitment Group are recruiting for a Principal Engineer - Shock, Structures and Dynamics on behalf of our prestigious defence client.

You will be carrying out a variety of requirements and acceptance activities relating to the design and developmentof submarine combat systems.

You will be within the Shock, Structures & Dynamics team, liaising with a variety of project stakeholders, including engineering teams, suppliers, and the Ministry of Defence.

This role will provide you with the opportunity towork across several different phases of the product lifecycle.

What you'll be doing as a Principal Engineer -Shock, Structures and Dynamics Engineer:

Generating derived requirements for technical specifications to be flown down to suppliers; reviewing tender compliance which is likely to involve supplier interaction to manage the delivery expectations with respect to the level of shock qualificationevidence
Working with and reviewing documentation generated by the Integrated Combat Systems engineering teams
Reviewing and developing supplier submitted shock qualification enabling documents followed by acceptance of supplier Shock qualification evidence encompassing classical manual stress calculations, Finite Element Analysis reports and physical test reports
Presentation and delivery of Integrated Combat Systems equipment Shock qualification evidence to the customer

Your skills and experiences as a Principal Engineer - Shock, Structures and Dynamics Engineer:

Experience of structural engineering and analysis techniques specifically classical manual stress calculations and various Finite Element Analysis techniques and interpretations of the output
Degree or equivalent qualification or experience within a relevant engineering discipline
