Are you interested in developing your skills in crisis care? Do you have a passion for supporting people in a mental health crisis? Or who are who are struggling with their mental health?

We are setting up a crisis response service which serves North East London for those experiencing a mental health crisis to call NHS 111 and have 24/7 access to the mental health support they need

We are looking for skilled, dynamic, culturally competent and flexible Associate Mental Health Practitioners with an interest in mental health to join our new service


In return for your commitment, we will offer you inner London weighting, a comprehnsive induction package, a bespoke training programme, regular supervision, regular reflective practice and a comprehensive staff well being programme.

Professional and personal experience of the communities in North East London would be desirable. Good communication skills over the telephone is essential.

The service is based on the Mile End Hospital site.

The Associate Mental Health Practitioner will work across the Service as directed to provide and support smooth transitions between teams and a high level of experience for the person in crisis.


The Associate Practitioner will demonstrate robust assessment, risk assessment and management skills and possess sound decision making skills for people in a mental health crisis and will formulate crisis safety plans under the guidance of registered clinicians.


They will demonstrate an understanding of a range of brief interventions and be able to provide robust physical health checks or be willing to undertake training to do so.

They will be expected to work under supervision, with adherence to Trust procedures and policies, and to employ value based and socially inclusive practice.


  • Taking calls from patients and carers with all levels and complexities of Mental Health needs
  • Triaging calls ensuring they are dealt with by the most appropriate professional
  • Provision of a high quality Mental Health crisis support line
  • Meeting the key performance indicators set for answering calls
  • Liaise with other professionals and agencies as appropriate to support the person in crisis
