We have a great opportunity for an expanding company based in Peterlee who are looking for a Maintenance Operative.

The role would suit someone with machine experience or a recent college leaver who has gained a valid engineering qualification.


This position will start working within their site at Wallsend but will eventually be permanently based at their Peterlee site.


You will need to be flexible towards working a 2 shift pattern Monday to Friday (6.00am-2.30pm/2.30pm-11.00pm) weekends may be required at busier times so flexibility is key.

Once you move to the Peterlee site you will be working a continental shift pattern (4 days on 6.00am-6.00pm, 4 days off, 4 nights on 6.00pm-6.00am, 4 days off).


Areas of Responsibility:

  • The maintenance, repair and modification of the plant and equipment
  • Planned and reactive maintenance
  • Refurbishment of machinery
  • Installation of new machinery and site projects

Essential Experience:

  • Ability to fault find on mechanical equipment
  • Flexible approach to working hours and shifts
  • Team player

Desired Experience:

  • Multi skilled experience
  • Engineering qualification or working towards
  • Previous experience working within a maintenance department
  • Experience working on heavy plant equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Ability to work unsupervised

Job Types:
Full-time, Temporary contract

£11.55 per hour
