Job overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Integrated Respiratory Specialist Team. The post is for a 6-month fix term contract.


The role is to support the physiotherapists and Band 4 support worker to run pulmonary rehabilitation in public buildings and to support home exercise plans.


The role will also support the multidisciplinary team to following patients up either on the phone or in their homes.

The role is to support patients with chronic respiratory problems to increase their exercise tolerance and confidence to live a more active life.

The respiratory service delivers education around self-management to help avoid hospital admissions in the future.

The base can be either St Austell Hospital or Falmouth Hospital as the band 3 will be covering the whole of the central area.


Main duties of the job:


The purpose of the post is:

  • To carry out skilled interventions as delegated by the qualified Physiotherapist or Band 4sSupport worker. This could be in the patient's home, or in the community in a public building. This role is to work alongside a physiotherapist and Band 4 support worker to deliver pulmonary rehabilitation.
  • To monitor the patient's response to therapy intervention and report back on the outcome.
  • To encourage patients and carers in an active approach to increase their exercise tolerance and confidence to live a more active life.
  • To promote exercise and chronic respiratory disease management.
