Director, Sales Operations

Position Summary:

The Director Sales Operations will drive consistency and discipline throughout sales for the assigned business unit or across multiple business units.

This person will ensure business units are achieving their business goals, objectives, and metrics, thereby positioning their organizations to achieve quarterly/annual bookings targets.

Ivanti Sales Operations exists to identify existing and define new leading practices that enables revenue growth and increases profitability. This is completed by implementing data practices, processes, reporting, and modeling that drive productivity, efficiency, transparency, and predictability.


The Director Sales Operations will:


  • Assist in making sound and timely business decisions to drive short term and long term performance regarding pipeline creation, deal velocity, forecast accuracy, and increased bookings.
  • Ensure resources are aligned to achieve business objectives.
  • Ensure all sales operations communications are clear and effectively managed.
  • Improve sales performance through better processes, technology and methodology
  • This role contributes to the success of the sales organization and its ability to meet/exceed business unit targets.

Responsibilities/ duties:


  • Report opportunity pipeline reports to gauge the health of the business
  • Produce weekly/monthly operational reports for sales teams and sales leadership.
  • Produce adhoc reports/analysis for sales leadership team
  • Collaborate with business partners inside and outside assigned business unit(s) to execute and achieve their quarterly/annual objectives.
  • Simplify the processes effecting the achievement of business goals, objectives, and metrics.
  • Represent sales organization to IT for data, systems, and tools that relate to sales activities, forecasting, opportunity management, and reporting.
  • Manage the business unit's deal desk (opportunity packaging and pricing) to assist in structuring solution pricing for customers that result sales wins.
  • Assist in executing on the short term tactical and long term strategy for the assigned business unit(s).
  • Support the daily operations of the business unit(s) sales teams, which includes data, processes, reporting, quoting, forecasting, and other operational needs.
  • Analyze and interpret data to identify trends, root causes, and possible solutions to improve business processes and reporting across the sales organization.
  • Uncover and implement policies and processes to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy across the sales organization.
  • Model and Plan headcount, quotas, expense budgets, sales forecasts that enables the business unit(s) to exceed targets.
  • Work closely with periphery organizations to further enable and execute on business objectives:
  • Finance / Legal / Order Management / Compensation / Marketing
  • May perform other job duties as directed

Required Skills and Experience:


  • 510 years of Sales Operations experience
  • 5+ years of significant experience with a software or hitech company
  • Strong experience with complex pricing and quoting of products for customers
  • 3+ years of functional area management experience, with dotted line matrix reports
  • Highly proficient in MS Excel modeling and data analysis (pivot, joins, logic statements, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Creative and analytical thinking
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to handle various tasks; attention to detail
  • Must be able to work well with others as part of a team

Education/Licensing/Certification:


  • Bachelors required, MBA preferred, or 7+ years equivalent work experience
