The overall purpose of the role is to develop and support a new programme, funded by the National Lottery, aimed at creating volunteering opportunities for local people.


Through the Lottery's funding this post will support service user experience and engagement with the 'Active Forever' health improvement referral programme.


Working with partners and medical professionals this post will support adults leaving hospital or living alone, enabling them to benefit from assisted physical exercise programmes aimed at aiding better management of long-term health conditions and/or disabilities.


Duties will include:

  • Coordinating the recruitment of volunteers via sector partners, customer engagement and local promotion and marketing, aimed at maintaining a minimum of 10 active volunteers per annum.
  • Working directly with the Health Improvement team and wider Fitness and Coaching teams, the post holder will act as a liaison and point of contact for both participants and volunteers, ensuring a positive and supportive experience.
  • Volunteers will provide a valuable 'buddy' network to support participation in physical activity by local people who are either recovering from illness or managing a longterm health condition/disability. The post holder will organise all volunteer training, induction, and service awareness.
  • Act as a direct link to partner organisations, supporting patient discharge from hospital and/or primary care services, where assistance is needed to encourage continued physical activity, under the referral of a medical professional.
  • Experience in personcentred community/voluntary/ health care settings
  • Experience in recruiting and managing/working with volunteers
  • Knowledge of long term health conditions/disabilities and the benefits achievable through physical exercise.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills gained through working with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Ability to work flexibly including evening, weekend, and bank holiday requirements to meet the needs of the business which operates 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year.

Job Types:
Part-time, Fixed term contract

Contract length: 36 months


Pay:
£25,283.10 per year

Expected hours: 30 per week
