We are seeking a SEND LSA to work within a small friendly SEND and pastoral care team within a vibrant community school.

You will be supporting children with speech and language difficulties under the direction of Speech and Language Therapists.

You will also be involved with working with SEND children on their individual learning plans, conducting assessments and delivering interventions.

This is an exciting role within a supportive, forward thinking and proactive team. The working pattern for the contract will be over three days and there is flexibility over which three days. Further mentoring support and training will continue throughout the role. There may be an opportunity to increase hours in the future.


Your responsibilities:

- build positive relationships with pupils, promoting high self-esteem and independence
- adapt communication style to respond to pupils according to their individual needs
- promote high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in line with the school's behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention
- assist with the development and delivery of individual education and support plans
- delivering small group and individual interventions particularly involving speech and language development
- complete assessments to determine the support needed for individual children
- contribute to the planning of differentiated learning activities as advised by outside agencies and SEND
- use ICT skills to advance pupils' learning
- provide regular feedback to teachers on pupil progress regarding the targets set by outside agencies
- monitor, record and report on progress and attainment to staff in school, parents and outside agencies
- contribute to the overall ethos, aims and work of the school.


You will need:


  • GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Mathematics
- to be preferably ELKLAN trained but this is not essential
- experience working in a school environment or other educational setting
- experience working with children / young people with special educational needs (SEN)
- experience planning and delivering learning activities
- experience working with speech and language pupils delivering their interventions would be an advantage.
