The Faculty consists of our triple-accredited Business School, which is one of the top business schools in the UK, holding the globally recognised trio of accreditations from EQUIS, AACSB and AMBA, and the renowned Manchester Law School - one of only nine providers delivering the vocational component of the Bar Training Course (BTC).


With strong links to professional bodies, global industries and the professional community, more than 400 expert academic staff deliver well-rounded and quality teaching, informed by industry and employers.

The Department of Accounting, Finance and Banking sits within the triple accredited Faculty of Business in Manchester Metropolitan University. It is a large and diverse department, with over 1,600 students and 60 academic staff members.

As part of the University's significant and continued investment in the Faculty's strategic vision, there are exciting opportunities available at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader level, contributing to the delivery of programmes across the academic portfolio, collaborations with external organisations, and joining a vibrant and rapidly growing research community.

We deliver excellent education and research with impact in a wide variety of sub-disciplines.

Currently, we are particularly excited to welcome applicants with professional experience and/or a research profile that could contribute to any of the following areas:


  • Taxation including Business and Personal Tax, as well as within the context of Financial Planning
  • Management Accounting including a focus on the current practices of Finance Business Partnering
  • Sustainable Finance particularly in the areas of Carbon Accounting and Net Zero targeting


Every appointment will be expected to deliver excellent learning and teaching in, at least, two units at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.

Appointments on our Research, Education and Citizenship (REC) Pathway will also be expected to contribute to the department's ambitions regarding publications and bidding activity.

Appointments on our Education, Pedagogy and Citizenship (EPC) Pathway, will be expected to contribute to our existing strategies to ensure our programmes and extra-curricular offerings are cutting-edge and entirely responsive to current student needs.

Our programmes have a strong contextual focus and we are keen to appoint colleagues who are committed to developing transformative pedagogies, that support our practice-engaged and research-informed Accounting education.
