Location:
York / Leeds or Nottingham


Salary:
£40,000 - £48,000 dependant on experience plus package


Summary


A fast growing Environmental Consultancy specialising in ecology, hydrology, contaminated land, construction sector support and arboricultural advice has opened up a new office in Nottingham and is looking to take on a Environmental Clerk of Works (ECoW) to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of works across the Midlands.


As an Ecological Clerk of Works, you'll be a vital point of contact for ecological matters onsite, with the responsibility for monitoring and managing construction risks associated with ecology, as well as providing input to continuous improvement of environmental processes, procedures, and related forms.


Responsibilities include:


  • Conducting surveys, producing reports with recommendations for mitigation and site survey records.
  • Providing continued site checks for prior to clearance and destructive searches.
  • Monitoring sites and providing advice to the site teams regarding constraints and mitigation solutions
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, planning conditions and associated documents and to help reduce risks and delays
  • Being a key point of contact for client and stakeholder relationship, working closely with staff from several disciplines, notably Ecologists, Hydrologists, Planners and Engineers, to provide an integrated ECoW service.

Minimum Requirements

  • 3+ years' experience of fieldbased ecology
  • Previous work experience in the ecology sector within a professional consultancy
  • Experienced in conducting protected species surveys including bats, badgers, nesting birds, great crested newts, and reptiles
  • A keen interest and understanding of British wildlife and conservation evidenced through voluntary work, training courses, charity memberships, hobbies, or related work experience
  • An understanding of environmental and ecological impact assessment (EcIA) legislation, policy, and guidance and how it relates to ecological consultancy
  • Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with clients and contractors
  • Well organised, proactive, reliable, and willing to travel between project sites
  • Provide support to licensed ecologists as required
  • Ability to record data efficiently and methodically
  • Able to complete field surveys and record accurate data in proforma to a high standard using iPads/Touchpads.
  • Competent in the use of basic software packages (Excel, Word etc) Qualifications

Desirable

  • Working towards or holds one or more protected species survey licenses (for great crested newts, hazel dormouse, or bats)
  • Working towards or holds ECoW related membership and / or qualifications and accreditations.
