Summary:


Our client is looking for an experienced BS- or MS level Research Associate/ Scientist to join their high profile and growing Protein Science team.

The group is responsible for construct design, protein production, QC and analytics.

You will play a key role in protein/ antibody production and protein characterization to help advance their library-based display and ML platform.


Objectives and Responsibilities:


  • Create and carry out protein engineering, production, and molecular testing experiments, including expression and purification.
  • Work on key scientific advances alongside other protein biochemists and biologists by devising experiments and optimising strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with data scientists and machine learning developers to advance the ML/AI platform.
  • Manage and direct CROs.
  • Internally and at scientific meetings/conferences, present/communicate study findings with crossfunctional colleagues.
  • Stay scientifically current and contribute to the implementation of new technology and instrumentation.

Requirements:


  • A BS degree (with 5+ years of experience), or an MS degree (with 3+ years of experience) in structural biology, chemistry, biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, or related field.
  • 35 years of handson experience in protein construct design, protein expression in mammalian cells and purification with AKTA, and biochemical biophysical characterizations (SPR, BLI, DSF, CE-SDS, cIEF, DLS, MALS, mass spec, etc).
  • Experience with protein QC (aSECHPLC) is a plus.
  • Automation and/or librarybased screening (Yeast or Phage) experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience with protein sequence/structure analysis and characterisation of the sequencestructurefunction relationship.
  • Strong collaborative, organisational, and presentation abilities
  • Ability to lead Research Associates, Technicians, and CROs
  • Ability to document, maintain, and provide an organised account of lab work and results
