Business Advisor - Social Enterprise

Location:
Women's Enterprise and Community Hub, 249a Ladypool Road, Sparkhill, B12 8LF.

There will be a need to be flexible about the working location across the West Midlands with some home working by agreement.



Term:
Fixed term contract until March 2025, probationary period of 6 months.


Hours: 22.5 hours per week with potential for this to increase. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

Leave: 22 days per annum pro-rata

Salary:
£30,000 per annum pro-rata plus pension (Employer 3% Employee 4%)

iSE is a social enterprise development agency that aims to grow the social economy in the West Midlands. iSE offers social enterprise start-up and development programmes and consultancy services to emerging, new start and existing organisations.


Working as part of a small team the Social Enterprise Business Adviser will provide specialist training, advice, information and support to help people to develop and trade successfully as social businesses.


Main Duties and Responsibilities
With the Project Manager, agree and deliver against an annual work
- plan, based on project specification, which contributes to achieving both specific project objectives and iSE organisational priorities.

  • Deliver high quality business advice and training to emerging, new startand existing cosocial businesses including: social enterprise governance, identifying appropriate legal structures and support with the registration process, business and financial, social enterprise income generation and sustainability including market opportunities, selfincome generation / trade, grant funding and social finance, social impact measurement and reporting.
  • Design and deliver workshops and training materials that support the annual workplan and provide high quality training for the participants on projects in line with the project outcomes.
  • Host business support and enterprise events in communities across the West Midlands.
  • Work with all Local Delivery Partners (LDPs) to create a network of agencies, organisations and individuals that can help to support clients developing social enterprises.
  • Assist in the organisation and delivery of training events and conferences where appropriate.
  • To support, undertake and deliver advice, research and specialist consultancy in line with iSE's strategic objectives.
  • To support Local Delivery Partners and iSE and to undertake any other reasonable piece of work as may be directed to you from time to time.

Strategic

  • Work with the staff team to deliver the SEBF project and others to develop the social economy in the West Midlands.
  • Support the development and delivery of social enterprise support systems in the West Midlands.
  • Identify the enterprise and business support needs of local people accessing the projects and to reflect those needs in delivery of workshops and training.
  • To develop networks and relationships in line with the strategic objectives of iSE.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of activities delivered as part of the projects and provide reports to the Project Manager, CEO and iSE board where needed.
  • Utilise CRMs system to maintain client records and journey tracking.
  • Support the collecting of monitoring data as well as qualitative learning and insights e.g., testimonials and case studies.
  • Contribute to the preparation and submission of quarterly monitoring returns and project reports in a timely manner.
  • Support the Project Officers to maintain records and evidence of activity which support the successful delivery of the annual workplan and project objectives as required by iSE.

General

  • At all times to work in such a way as to promote Equal Opportunities.

  • To attend internal meetings as required, and in general to contribute toand otherwise support iSE events, activities and publications.
  • To undertake other necessary, reasonable duties and appropriate tasks that support this role and the work of iSE.

Team duties and responsibilities:


  • To support the staff team and contribute to the organisation's development, through team meetings, team activities and supporting contract delivery where appropriate.
  • To support the development of new and improved working and systems as appropriate to the needs of the business.
  • To work flexibly as required.

Other

  • To keep up to date with developments in the social enterprise sector and topics relevant to the social business and social enterprise growth.
  • To attend training, seminars and conferences as advised.
  • We expect all iSE roles to be multi disciplinary and this role would be suitable for people with project management experience
