Maths Lead

Salary range:
£30,000 - £46,525 plus £2,539 SEN allowance per year


About you:

For this role, we are looking for someone who holds QTS, and you will have experience of working with children with SEND and ASC.

With a proven ability to deliver high quality, lively and effective primary/secondary teaching, which engages and motivates young people you'll be someone who has a passion for supporting them to learn and develop, and you'll want to make a difference to the lives and education of our children and young people.

About the role:


As Maths Lead Teacher, you will be an integral part of our team who put the children and young people at the heart of everything we do.

You will plan, assess, and deliver outstanding teaching and learning using proven methods and approaches that enable all young people to learn, whilst ensuring that pastoral needs are also met.

You will establish excellent relationships with parents and carers and inspire trust and confidence in pupils, colleagues, families, and other professionals.


You will be expected:

  • To lead, manage and develop the staff in maths to achieve a high quality of teaching, effective use of resources and the highest standards of learning and achievement for all pupils
  • Accountability for Leading, Managing & Developing a Subject/Curriculum Area
  • To provide strategic leadership for the development and management of maths throughout the school
  • To identify areas for improvement linked to the School Improvement Plan and local and national initiatives
  • To develop and monitor schemes of work for maths across the whole school and ensure successful implementation which meets curriculum requirements.
  • To provide, monitor and evaluate the use of resources related to maths
  • To have an overview of and contribute to the planning and delivery of continuous professional development and training related to maths
  • To monitor, assess and develop the roles of the class teachers in maths
  • To develop strategies for the use of maths to promote new teaching methods and improve learning throughout the school and monitor effectiveness in raising standards of teaching and learning
  • To monitor and evaluate pupil progress throughout the school in maths and set goals for maths across the school
  • To provide opportunities for working with parents and give specialist advice on maths
  • To arrange and promote maths curriculum activities within the school
  • To use ICT effectively in delivery of teaching and learning
  • To lead assemblies to promote a love of numeracy

Support for the school:

  • Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to safeguarding/child protection, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Show a duty of care to pupils and staff and take appropriate action to always comply with health and safety requirements
  • Be aware of and support difference and ensure that all pupils have access to opportunities to learn and develop
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school
  • Maintain good relationships with colleagues and work together as a team.
  • Appreciate and support the role of other professionals
  • To attend morning briefings, staff meetings and parents' evenings as required.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development as required to meet individual pupil needs
  • Demonstrate and promote commitment to equal opportunities and to the elimination of behaviour and practices that could be discriminatory


The above is not exhaustive and the post holder will be expected to undertake any duties which may reasonably fall within the level of responsibility and the competence of the post as directed by the Head Teacher.
