Water Resilience | Stronger Together | WSP

Our
strategic advisory team supports clients at each stage of the project lifecycle, from strategic long-term planning, to project shaping and business case development.

We provide expert advice to asset owners, developers, and regulators. We undertake due diligence on behalf of investors and lenders. We provide expert witnesses across water (sustainable drainage, flooding, supply and treatment).

Our work is grounded in a deep understanding of the water sector operations, structure, policy context and regulatory framework. We support our clients to maximise outcomes and performance whilst also delivering their commitments.

We focus on delivering advice that is strategically important to our clients:
Policy & regulation

  • We work with policy makers and regulators to inform and shape future regulation
  • We draw on our knowledge of global policy and our collaborative delivery skills to enable our clients to outperform against their regulatory drivers
Strategic asset management

  • We combine digital best practice and technical expertise with organisational change to advise clients how to optimise asset investment and performance across all water industry asset classes.
Integrated water management

  • We lead collaborative teams of local authorities, water companies, developers, landowners and charities to deliver synergised solutions to flooding, water supply/disposal and pollution problems.
  • We enable all stakeholders to realise their desired outcomes by maximising the value of their combined investments.

Your new role, what's involved? Your responsibilities will include**:

  • Collecting and assessing data and evidence
  • Succinctly articulating (verbally and in writing) evidence and insights to the wider project team and to clients
  • Checking deliverables for accuracy and consistency
  • Managing projects (including development of programmes, resourcing plans, risk registers and financial management) training will be provided in relation to WSP's systems and processes
  • Delegate tasks where appropriate and develop others
  • Being professionally recognised in your technical area (e.g. Incorporated or Chartered)
  • Proactively progressing continuous professional improvement of self and team (with support)
  • Contributing to our culture of safety and wellbeing
  • Networking effectively

YOUR TEAM

  • A dynamic and ambitious team that care about improving how we manage our water sustainably for the benefit of our clients and their communities
  • Lead strategic advice delivery as part of a wider water team of over 800 staff
  • Work closely with specialists across WSP, from water to environment, planning, economic, digital and energy to inform the effective advice we give
  • Are part of a people first culture that enables our people to flourish and develop
  • Play a role in delivering WSP's 2022 to 2024 strategy and in the development of the 2024 to 2027 strategy, where water is a growth area
  • Work ahead of the curve to foresee the next evolution of sustainable water management

We'd love to hear from you if you have:

  • Worked in the water sector across strategy, regulation or a technical discipline (incl water companies, local authorities, Environment Agency, developers, policy makers, regulators and investors and lenders or in consultancy or contracting)
  • Have applied your skills to operational activities or projects, demonstrating your ability to work autonomously in your given area of expertise
  • Experience in one or more of our strategic focus areas (policy & regulation; climate change, net zero & the circular economy; strategic asset management; and integrated water management)
  • A passion and capability to foster relationships in areas outside your core technical expertise
  • A collaborative and engaging approach that results in strong relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes in accordance with WSP Core Values through effective team working with open communication
