WHAT TO EXPECT


Powertrain has an opportunity for someone to act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) taking accountability for future fuel systems & associated components (fuel & urea storage, distribution, and controls) excellence.


As an Automotive Future Fuels SME, you'll have the opportunity to drive best practice into the fuel system design solutions including the generation and updating of Fuel System Engineering Standards, ensure that quality documentation is complete (FMEAs, PRAs & support of DRBFMs) and IQM quality projects are provided.


You will also get to chance to engage with current vehicle engineering technical support which including supporting design reviews, reviewing & contributing to ESOWs & sourcing documentation.


As the Future Fuels SME, you will lead and contribute to ensure delivery of the Ignite ideas/targets specifically for quality, cost and time and support a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate concepts, features and alternatives and develop production releases.

You will need to meet operational targets created in the strategy phase to ensure they can be delivered robustly and will build, maintain and manage relationships with internal and external suppliers and stakeholders.

You will contribute to the overall project cadence and ensure transparent communication and escalation through:

  • Driving the creation and update of the Plan(s)
  • Ensuring effective collaboration and communication
  • Monitoring tasks across the life cycle of the project

WHAT YOU WILL NEED


As an Automotive Future Fuel SME, you will be an individual, who works independently, is results-driven, demonstrating tenacity, drive, and perseverance with the ability to deliver operational plans in a complex, highly demanding environment.

You will have a passion for continuous technical improvement as well as a good communicator with the ability to communicate complex ideas.

In addition, you will also need to be a UK driving licence holder to support travel to multiple engineering & manufacturing sites across the West Midlands.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience


Essential:

  • Experience of the automotive industry (OEM or Tier 1 supplier)
  • Proven technical knowledge related to the Fuels System and, or its component parts.
  • Experience of developing robust technical documentation
  • Experience of delivering multiple parallel projects in an automotive environment
  • Experience of delivering technical products through a team, utilising strong people management skills
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholders and communicate at all levels, including Presentations skills
  • Degree or relevant equivalent experience preferred

Desirable:

  • Experience of building and managing multiple internal and external relationships in complex environments
  • Experience of using quality Toolsets (e.g. FMEA, 8D, IQM, AIMS, SDOTS)
  • Understanding of Microsoft Toolset (e.g., PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
